Chapter 1: The Princess and the Golden Ball.

In a faraway kingdom, there lived a young princess, the apple of her father’s eye. She spent her days exploring the lush gardens of the palace, surrounded by roses, lilacs, and a shimmering pond. The princess had a favorite toy: a golden ball, so brilliant that it caught the sun's rays and |reflected them like a star|. She adored the ball and would spend hours tossing it high into the air and catching it in her small hands.
One day, as she played near the edge of the pond, her golden ball slipped through her fingers, falling into the |water with a loud splash|. The pond was deep, and the ball quickly disappeared beneath its surface. Distraught, the princess knelt by the pond and began to weep bitterly.
As her tears fell, |she heard a peculiar sound|.
“Ribbit. Why are you crying, dear princess?” croaked a raspy voice.
Startled, she looked around and saw a large, green frog sitting on a lily pad. Its bulging eyes stared at her with an almost human curiosity.
“My golden ball has fallen into the pond,” the princess sobbed. “It’s gone, and I cannot retrieve it!”
The frog tilted its head thoughtfully. “Perhaps I can help you, but I shall require something in return.”
“Oh, anything you want! My clothes, my jewels, even my golden crown—just bring back my ball!”
|The frog let out a deep chuckle|. “I have no need for such things. What I desire is your companionship. Let me sit at your table, eat from your plate, and sleep on your pillow. If you promise this, I will retrieve your golden ball.”
The princess hesitated, thinking the frog’s demands strange, but she was desperate. “Yes, yes, I promise anything you want!”
Satisfied, the frog dove into the pond with a splash, his legs kicking powerfully. Moments later, he surfaced with the golden ball clutched in his slimy mouth. He hopped to the shore, placed the ball at the princess’s feet, and croaked, “Here it is, as promised.”
The princess grabbed the ball and ran off, forgetting her promise to the frog entirely.

Chapter 2: A Persistent Visitor.

That evening, as the princess dined with her father, the king, a strange |sound echoed through the grand hall|.
“Ribbit. Princess, open the door!”
Startled, she turned pale. The king noticed her unease. “What is the matter, my child?”
“N-nothing,” she stammered.
The voice |came again, louder this time|. “Princess! Open the door for me. Remember your promise!”
Trembling, the princess explained the events of the day: the lost golden ball, the frog’s help, and the promise she had made in haste. The king, a just and honorable man, frowned.
“You must keep your word, my daughter. A promise is a promise.”
Reluctantly, |the princess opened the door|, and the frog hopped in, his wet skin leaving trails on the polished floor. He looked up at her and croaked, “Carry me to the table.”
Wrinkling her nose in disgust, she picked him up gingerly and placed him beside her plate. The frog was unbothered by her revulsion. “Push your plate closer to me, princess. Let me eat from it.”
She obeyed, barely touching her food as the frog slurped and gulped from her plate. When the meal was over, he croaked again, “Now, take me to your chamber. I’m tired and wish to sleep on your pillow.”
The princess’s heart sank. She turned pleading eyes to her father, but the king’s expression was stern. “You must honor your word.”
With great reluctance, she carried the frog to her bedroom and placed him on a silk pillow. As she lay in her own bed, she shuddered at the thought of his slimy skin so close to her.

Chapter 3: The Transformation.

Morning came, and the |frog woke her with his noise|. “Princess, lift me onto your bed!”
She groaned in frustration. “You are insufferable!” she snapped, grabbing the frog and flinging |him against the wall in anger|.
To her astonishment, the moment the frog hit the wall, there |was a blinding flash of light|. When the light faded, a handsome young prince stood before her, clad in fine garments and a golden crown.
The princess gasped. “Who are you?”
“I am the prince of a distant kingdom,” he explained. “A wicked witch cursed me to live as a frog until a princess could break the spell. You have freed me.”
The princess was speechless, her anger and disgust
|giving way to curiosity and wonder|. The prince smiled kindly. “Now, let us journey to my kingdom, where my loyal servant, Iron Heinrich, awaits me.”

Chapter 4: Iron Heinrich and the Broken Bands.

The prince and the princess set off in a grand carriage. Along the way, they were joined by Iron Heinrich, the prince’s devoted servant. Heinrich had been so heartbroken when his master was cursed that he had three iron bands placed around his chest to keep his heart from breaking.
As the carriage rolled through forests and fields, a loud cracking |sound echoed through the air|. The princess jumped. “What was that?”
Heinrich smiled and placed a hand over his chest. “Do not be alarmed, Your Highness. It is one of the iron bands breaking. My heart is finally free of sorrow now that my master is restored.”
Twice more, |the sound of breaking iron filled the air| as the journey continued. With each crack, Heinrich’s joy grew.
When they arrived at the prince’s kingdom, a grand celebration was held. The prince and princess were married in a lavish ceremony, and Heinrich’s happiness was complete.
The princess, though initially reluctant, came to admire the prince’s kindness and courage. Together, they ruled the kingdom with wisdom and grace, and their story was passed down for generations as a testament to the power of promises, perseverance, and unexpected love.
