Chapter 1: In the Beginning.
In the very beginning, before there was anything at all, the whole world was dark and empty and quiet. Then God spoke, and |bright light filled the darkness|, and He called the light "day" and the dark "night." The whole world waited in quiet wonder. A |gentle wind moved over the| wide waters, and the morning and the evening made the very first day.
On the second day, God made the sky. He stretched it high above like a great blue roof over the world. The |deep waters rolled and parted|, some staying below and some rising into soft clouds far overhead. God looked at the sky and saw that it was good, and the second day passed in peace.
Chapter 2: Land, Plants, and Lights.
On the third day, God gathered the waters into seas and let dry land appear. |Cool rivers rushed to the| sea, and green grass spread over the hills, fresh and bright. |The new trees rustled softly| in the breeze, and flowers and fruit grew everywhere, each with tiny seeds to make even more.
On the fourth day, God filled the sky with lights. |The great sky opened wide|, and the warm sun shone all day long. At night the silver moon and countless twinkling stars glowed above, so that everyone would always know the times and the seasons. God smiled at His beautiful sky.
Chapter 3: Creatures of Sea and Sky.
On the fifth day, God filled the seas and the skies with living things. |Silver fish splashed in the| cool water, and great whales sang deep songs below the waves. The wide ocean sparkled with fins and tails of every shape and color, all swimming happily together.
High above, |great wings flapped through the| bright air as birds of every kind began to fly through the wide heavens. |Happy birds chirped everywhere above| the trees, building nests and singing sweet songs. God blessed them all and told them to fill the seas and the skies, and the fifth day ended with music.
Chapter 4: Animals, People, and Rest.
On the sixth day, God made the animals of the land. |Many animals filled the green| fields, big and small, gentle and strong. They came from the hills and the valleys. |A strong lion roared softly| in the sunshine, rabbits hopped, and cows grazed quietly on the grass. Then God made the very first people, a man and a woman, to care for the whole beautiful world.
God looked at everything He had made, and it was very good. On the seventh day He rested, and |soft harp music filled the| peaceful world. He blessed that day and made it special, a quiet time to rest and to be thankful. And so the wonderful world was finished, full of light and life.
