Chapter 1: Little Red Riding Hood Sets Off to Grandma's House.

Once upon a time, there was a little girl much loved by everyone who knew her, especially her grandmother. Her grandmother loved her so much that she couldn’t stop giving her gifts. One day, she |made her a red velvet cloak|, which suited the girl so well that she never wanted to wear anything else. So, everyone began to call her Little Red Riding Hood.
One day, her mother said, “Come, Little Red Riding Hood, here is a piece of cake and a bottle of wine. Take them to your grandmother; she is ill and weak, and this will do her good. Leave before it gets hot, and while you go, walk nicely and don’t stray from the path, or you may |fall and break the bottle|, leaving your grandmother with nothing. When you enter her room, don’t forget to say good morning, and don’t go peeking around everywhere first.”
“I’ll be very careful,” said Little Red Riding Hood to her mother, giving her hand as a promise.
Her grandmother lived in the middle of the forest, half a league from the village, and as soon as Little Red Riding Hood entered the woods, a |wolf came up to her|. Little Red Riding Hood didn’t know he was a wicked creature and wasn’t afraid of him.

Chapter 2: The Wolf’s Plan.

“Good morning, Little Red Riding Hood,” he said.
“Thank you, Mr. Wolf.”
“Where are you off to so early, Little Red Riding Hood?”
“I’m going to my grandmother’s house.”
“What are you carrying in your apron?”
“Cake and wine; yesterday was baking day, so my poor sick grandmother will have something nice to eat to make her stronger.”
“Where does your grandmother live, Little Red Riding Hood?”
“A good quarter of a league ahead, in the woods. Her house stands under three large oak trees; surely you know it,” replied Little Red Riding Hood.
The wolf thought to himself, “What a young, tender creature! What a delicious snack she’ll be — even better than the old woman. I must be cunning to catch both.” So, |he walked alongside Little Red| Riding Hood for a while, then said, “Look, Little Red Riding Hood, at how beautiful the flowers are here. Why don’t you look around? Don’t you hear |the birds singing so sweetly|? You walk so solemnly, as if you’re going to school, while everything in the forest is cheerful.”
Little Red Riding Hood looked up, and seeing the |sunbeams dancing through the trees| and the beautiful flowers growing everywhere, thought, “I think I’ll take a fresh bouquet to Grandma; it will make her happy, too. It’s still early; I’ll get there in time.” So she left the path and wandered into the woods to pick flowers. Whenever she picked one, she saw another even prettier ahead and ran after it, going deeper and deeper into the forest.
Meanwhile, the wolf went straight to Grandma’s house |and knocked on the door|.

Chapter 3: The Disguised Wolf.

“Who is it?”
“Little Red Riding Hood,” |the bad indented wolf replied|. “She’s bringing cake and wine; open the door.”
“Lift the latch,” called the grandmother. “I’m too weak to get up.”
The wolf lifted |the latch, the door opened|, and without saying a word, he went straight to the |grandmother’s bed and devoured her|. Then, he dressed in her clothes, put on her cap, lay down in the bed, and pulled the curtains.
Little Red Riding Hood, meanwhile, had gotten distracted picking flowers, and when she could carry no more, she remembered her grandmother and returned to the path.
She was surprised to find the cottage door open, and upon entering the room, felt something strange, thinking, “Oh, how nervous I feel today. Usually, I enjoy being with Grandma.” She called out, “Good morning,” but received no reply.
So, she went to the bed |and pulled back the curtains|. There lay her grandmother with the cap over her face, looking very strange.
“Oh, Grandma,” she said, “what big ears you have!”
“All the better to hear you with, my dear,” replied the wolf.
“But Grandma, what big eyes you have!” she said.
“All the better to see you with, my dear.”
“But Grandma, what big hands you have!”
“All the better to hug you with.”

“But Grandma, what a big mouth you have!”
“All the better to eat you with!”
And barely had the wolf said this when he leaped out of bed and |devoured Little Red Riding Hood|.

Chapter 4: The Hunter’s Rescue.

When the wolf had satisfied his appetite, he lay down again in the bed and fell |into a deep sleep, snoring loudly|. The hunter, who was passing by the house, heard the snores and thought, “How the old lady is snoring! I’ll see if she needs help.” He entered the room and saw the wolf lying in the bed.
“So, here you are, old sinner!” he said. “I’ve been looking for you for a long time.”
But just as he was about to shoot, he remembered that the wolf might have swallowed the grandmother and that she could still be alive. He didn’t shoot but |took a pair of scissors| and began to cut open the sleeping wolf’s belly.
After two snips, he saw a bright red cloak and made two more cuts until Little Red Riding Hood emerged, exclaiming, “Oh, how frightened I was! It was so dark inside the wolf.” Right after, the grandmother also |came out, barely able to breathe|. Little Red Riding Hood quickly fetched large stones to fill the wolf’s belly, and when he woke up, he tried to run but the stones were so heavy.
Then, the three were very happy. The hunter skinned the wolf and took it home, the grandmother |ate the cake and drank the wine| that Little Red Riding Hood had brought, and soon felt much better. As for Little Red Riding Hood, she thought to herself, “As long as I live, I’ll never stray from the path and wander into the forest when my mother has forbidden it.
